This research aims to analyze the socio-cultural and institutional conditions in the development of tourist villages focusing on Ponggok Village, Klaten Regency. The main objective in this report is to find out how the socio-cultural and institutional conditions in the development of tourism villages and how the evaluation conducted by the village government in developing tourism villages in Ponggok village. This research highlights the socio-cultural conditions in Ponggok Village. The method used in this research is a descriptive research method with a qualitative approach using data collection techniques in this research through interviews, observation and documentation. This research covers the important role of village government and institutional involvement in developing tourism villages. In implementing the program run by the Ponggok Village government, there are several evaluations carried out, namely evaluation through daily, monthly and quarterly reports. The main supporting factors in the implementation of this analysis are the active participation of the community and support from institutional parties. Some people do not have a deep understanding of the concept of a tourist village and how to manage it. The conclusion of this study shows that the role of institutions is crucial in the development of tourist villages. In the past, this village was categorized as the poorest village with a village income of only Rp80 million/year. In 2001, the village was even designated as a village with a category of Underdeveloped Village Infrastructure. However, since the leadership of Village Head Junaedhi Mulyono in 2006, the village has begun to make changes through the development of village potential. Ponggok Village has natural potential in the form of clear, fresh and abundant springs with Umbul Ponggok as the main attraction.
